On October 21, 2003, Elliott Smith passed away at the age of 34. The US singer/songwriter was an amazing talent and is still highly regarded for his catalogue of 5 studio albums. He came to Australia only once - in 1998. He visited triple j and Richard Kingsmill had the chance of asking him about his latest album XO as well as his appearance earlier that year at the Academy Awards when his song Miss Misery from Good Will Hunting was nominated. Smith was a softly spoken but thoughtful man, often serious but also slightly nervous.
