Nigel Pearson’s Leicester City defied the odds and guaranteed league safety this afternoon with a draw at the Stadium of Light. The pressure mounts on Hull and Newcastle with both teams losing in the capital, while Norwich’s dreams of plying their trade in the land of milk and honey were boosted with their playoff victory against local rivals, Ipswich. The Canaries face Middlesbrough in the Championship Playoff Final next week, after Boro’ defeated Brentford on Friday night. And it’s the end of an era at Anfield with legendary midfielder Steven Gerrard bidding his farewell to the fans this evening. Alan Pardew’s Palace, however, rained on Liverpool's parade by clinching the three points in the late kick-off.
