When Jacinta Tynan had her baby she was surprised and relieved (as I suspect most of us are) at how nice it was. The baby was lovely, there were plenty of surprises about being a mother but on the whole the positives outweighed the negatives. Being a journalist on a deadline she rattled off a feature column about how great it was being a mother and then all hell broke loose. Mother Zen is her book that was born out of the turmoil of the criticisms and self examination that followed the article.
