PANDA stands for Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Australia and the middle week of November an awareness week for the mental health issues that can grip new parents. It's estimated 1800 new parents are diagnosed EVERY WEEK with post natal depression and the figures for anxiety might even be higher. It's something that can affect men and women and it does not discriminate with age, socioeconomic boundaries. PANDA runs probably the biggest mental health helpline for new parents and it wants all of us to be aware of the problems depression and anxiety cause for new families.
