In the same way American guitarist Ry Cooder brought the traditional Cuban music of the Buena Vista Social club to a new global audience, Jane Bunnett has been making sure Cuban jazz musicians of newer generations get the attention they deserve. The Canadian flautist and saxophonist is touring Australia with Maqueque, an all female group of Cuban musicians who are mostly in their twenties and recorded their first album together last year after jamming for just three days. The album went on to win a Juno award.
