Mike Brearley famously led England to that series win against Australia in 1981. In 1985 he wrote "The Art of Captaincy"....compulsory reading, you might say, for the game's thinkers. He’s republished the book thirty years later with a new introduction which touches on the game's more contemporary issues...with opening thoughts on the surrounding entourage of coaches, physios and nutritionists which beg the question about whether a captain, in this case Alastair Cook, can ever really be his own man again.
