August 9th, 2016

Episode 1119 of 1744 episodes

Indian activist Irom Sharmila Chanu is ending her hunger strike against a controversial law after 16 years - what is believed to be the longest hunger strike in the world. Ms Chanu had been protesting against the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), which gives soldiers sweeping powers to arrest without warrants and even shoot-to-kill in certain situations. The BBC's Sanjoy Majumder reports from Ms Chanu's home state of Manipur.
