Some football statistics for you. 25% of professional players are black, yet fewer than 4% of coaches within the game are black, asian or of ethnic minority with barely 1% holding leadership positions across the 92 clubs. This under-representation has long since been a matter of concern, but what's to be done? The FA and the players union, the PFA, have developed a new course, entitled Get On Board, with the specific aim of redressing this imbalance, specifically in corporate roles within the game and this week some 20 players, both current and retired, received their qualifications in a ceremony at Wembley.
