Ahead of his speech at the House of Lords alongside the head of the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church in England I met Canadian philosopher Jean Vanier at Lambeth Palace. Best known perhaps for starting L'Arche the international federation of communities for people with developmental disabilities he told me about the importance of dialogue and understanding in overcoming our differences in society. Sarah started by asking him why left the Navy he'd joined when he was 13 to the first Arche community.
In a time where we're all threatened by a rhetoric of hate from the people in power; A Gay And A NonGay challenges many of our differences head on and promises that no matter who you are, or what you're into (Bruce Springsteen or Britney), love is love and gay and nongays can be friends.
