World War One: Remembering the Indian army

July 14th, 2016

Episode 1069 of 1744 episodes

The Indian Army's losses in World War One are this week being remembered at a special event in Delhi. A hundred years ago, 1.3 million Indian soldiers took part in battles far from their homeland, but their involvement has been largely forgotten in India because it was part of the colonial era. The BBC's South Asia correspondent Justin Rowlatt reports from the commemoration in Delhi. (Image: Indian army in France, 1914. Credit: Getty Images)
