In mid October a Wall Street journal investigation raised serious questions about the effectiveness of Theranos's blood testing technology. Former deputy assistant to President Richard Nixon, Alexander P Butterfield, the man who testified at the Watergate hearings the existence of the tapes, left the White House in 1973 and took with him boxes of files. These were the basis of a memoir he was writing, but he chose to share them with Woodward and they present a much deeper, more disturbing picture of the man Richard Nixon.
