The Productivity Commission has just handed down its draft report which recommended that parallel import restrictions be lifted to benefit consumers by reducing book prices. Publishers and authors are opposed to the restrictions being lifted because they say that it will reduce income for Australian publishers and authors, many of whom already struggle to make a living.
