bMichael Dobbs, prolific author, playwright, broadcaster and former adviser to British Prime Ministers, Margaret Thatcher and John Major, and former Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party. Lord Dobbs is also the author of the groundbreaking TV series, The House of Cards, featuring the iconic Francis Urquhart, was first made into successful series for the BBC in the early 90s, and has now been lavishly re-imagined on American television, starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. He talks to Phillip about his life, his passion for history and Winston Churchill, and for writing thrilling novels, mostly based around the world with which he is familiar - the lives of politicians, their wives and staff. His most recent Harry Jones novel 'A Ghost at the Door' has been short-listed for the Political Fiction of the Year award.
