This week Hillary Clinton was inducted into the Irish-American Hall of Fame. In the late 1990s the role the Clinton's played in championing the peace process in Northern Ireland was one of President Clinton's great foreign policy achievements. The assassination, less than two weeks ago, of a leading critic of the Tajikistan government hasn't attracted the same level of attention as the murder of Boris Nemtsov in Russia. Umarali Kuvatov, the Tajik opposition figure was shot once in the back of the head on a street in Istanbul. This occurred a few days after the last reportedly unfair and undemocratic elections in the Tajik republic; Transnistria broke away from the Moldovan republic in 1990. It has its own government, stamps, currency and passports, though they are not recognised outside the area, nor is Transnistria recognised as an independent country.
