LW0937 - Yosemite 1 - Low-hanging Fruit

November 12th, 2015

Episode 67 of 155 episodes

In 23 years of publishing LensWork, we've not received a single portfolio submission of Yosemite. I attribute this to the long shadow of Ansel Adams. Are his great images ones that have taught us to see Yosemite in an overpowering way, or were they simply the "easy ones" because they are so obvious? Perhaps the challenges for us today are a bit harder than previous generations because all the low-hanging fruit has already been picked. You might be interested in . . . Brooks Jensen's book, The Creative Life in Photography, offers readers the opportunity to engage in a selection of timeless and thought-provoking articles previously published in LensWork, but many now long out-of-print. The 203 pages of text are organized in three important sections: Being an Artist, The Creative Muse, and Productivity. This book goes beyond useful; it is truly a "must read" for photographers who are committed to their craft. These essays on photography, the creative process, and personal expression are available in print or as an ebook from www.lenswork.com.
