Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock is a scientist who has spent her career making bespoke instrumentation for industrial uses such as land mine detection and optical sub-systems for the James Webb Space Telescope run by NASA. As well as being a space scientist she is also a dedicated science communicator - since February 2014 she has co-presented the long-running astronomy TV program The Sky at Night alongside Chris Lintott on BBC Four and she gives regular talks and tours to high school children across England. She's in Australia to launch Sydney Science Festival, part of National Science Week which runs from 15 - 23 August.
