This year, the 50th-anniversary incarnation of the Newport Folk Festival mirrors founder George Wein's vision. Festival producer Jay Sweet included more traditional folk artists such as Pete Seeger (he was there in '59), the gospel side of folk with Mavis Staples, and some of the new breed of folk-inspired musicians, including The Low Anthem, Fleet Foxes and The Decemberists.
