It’s one of Australia’s most unique cultural gatherings. The Garma Festival began in 1998 with the aim of hosting an Aboriginal equivalent of the World Economic Forum. Since then the festival has grown into a landmark celebration of Yolngu cultural inheritance. This year more than 2500 attended Garma in North East Arnhem Land. It’s now so popular organisers have had to cap ticket sales. Nancia Guivarra was there for Awaye!
