Stopping cancer cells from spreading through the body (metastasis) is vital in curing the patient of their cancer. Dr Bedrich Eckhardt from the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre joined us in the studio to discuss his research. Bedrich studies the mechanisms by which breast cancer cells migrate to distant sites including lung and bone. Fossils found in Latvia turn out to be "missing links" -animals that were in the middle of the evolutionary process of transitioning from sea to land. Other stories were: the commercial cloning of pet dogs, methanol fuel cells for portable electronic devices, and drought-resistant GM wheat with higher yields than non-GM wheat.
