It's 100 years since the Model T Ford rolled off the production line. Dr Bernard Rolfe, Senior Lecturer School of Engineering and Information Technology at Deakin University, is part of a $1.8M research project between Deakin and Ford Australia investigating the use of advanced high strength steels in the automotive industry called the Model T2 Program. Bernard described his current research interests include developing better material models for metal forming, as well as investigating models for intelligent controllers for manufacturing systems. Also, a new loo for the ISS, potential progress with a malaria vaccine, the genetics of voting, reading a person's mind using fMRI, and making diamond films from tequila.
