Dayrl Jackson's Melbourne Park extension NEWS • The big news coming put of Government via its agency VicUrban is that a team lead by English firm Grimshaw will lead a consultant team to masterplan the Maribyrnong Defence Site, a 128Ha site just north of Highpoint Shopping centre. The team also includes Field Operations who were landscape architects on the NY Highline Park (refer to our show with Vicky Lam); and locally based NMBW. Those two firms specialising in an approach to existing conditions that the project clearly demands, rather than more traditional authored based urban design approach. Will be interesting to see the scheme. The selection was the result of a quickly run charette and invited submission process that occurred just prior to Christmas. • And talking of VicUrban and the merits of existing conditions, it has been announced that Goods Shed 19-21 in Docklands will be demolished.
