On this week's Byte: It's Byte's 20th birthday! Throughout September we are celebrating by looking back on the last 20 years in computing and technology. This week we focus on 1993-1997, and we're joined by original Byters Duncan MacKew and Rita Arrego, who reflect on how things were back then, and how they look now. The team reminisced about: The launch of Byte way back in 1993 - it started as a half-hour, and then was a full two hours before settling back to our 7-8pm Wednesday slot. The Internet pre-World Wide Web. Gaming in the early '90s. Mosaic and Netscape. The launch of Windows 95. Dildonics (yes, it's exactly what it sounds like). The first internet cafes. The first digital cameras (remember the ones that had floppy disks?). Startups from years-gone-by (some of them are still around!). Opportunities and Events General Assembly and Web Directions South are offering a $1500 scholarship to their Data Science Course on September 16. Startup Spring is coming up, with over 50 events showcasing the startup community Australia-wide. Don't forget to pay up for Radiothon before 5pm September 18 to gointo the draw for al those awesome prizes! Join us next week as we continue to celebrate 20 years of Byte! Presented by Vanessa Toholka and Keren Flavell, with special guests Duncan MacKew and Rita Arrego. http://profiles.google.com/byteintoit http://twitter.com/byteintoit http://friendfeed.com/byteintoit
