Take belly breaths. Have your child practice belly breathing so that the next time she has strong feelings she can use this strategy to help her calm down. First, have her put her hands on her belly. Then, encourage her to take three slow breaths in through her nose and out through her mouth. Have her feel her belly move in and out with each breath. Once she feels calm, she can think of a plan to solve her problem.
