More About This Show While in college Matt worked for a painting company and did very well.A few years later he went to work for a bank but discovered he wasn't a fit for the corporate world and they parted ways.Taking his remaining $100 Matt started a business doing the one thing he knew: painting. Quickly he grew that business by knocking on doors and generally hustling his way to six and then seven figures. His story caught people's attention and he was asked to speak about his experiences and his know-how. Being the entrepreneur he is Matt saw an opportunity in the speaking marketplace; no one was talking about how to life a better life overall. Matt saw the chance to bring his purpose to life and to plant his flag: toinspire, encourage and lead men to be warriors in their own lives and bring their purpose to life. Matt and I talk about the process he takes people through to "unpack their suitcase", how to look at every story and examine it as empowering or disempowering.Your suitcase contains luggage and baggage (luggage is what you've packed, baggage is what other people packed for you).He also explains how to find your flag once you've unpacked your suitcase, and then how to plant that flag and repack your suitcase. Matt has some daily habits he's created that also help him stay focused on his flag and stay in the warrior arena (another concept we talk about in this episode). The first one is having a warrior tribe, a small group of people he knows fully support him and what's he is doing in the world. He makes it a point to have coffee, lunch and Skype conversations with these people on a regular basis. It's in his to-do list to stay connected to them. The other two habits are daily exercise (martial arts and going to the gym) and asking himself every morning if this is his last day on Earth what can he do to bring value and make a difference today? He answers that question and then does it that day. We also discuss several specific ways of living, what the warrior arena is and why everyone doesn't enter in and the first step to planting our flag.Check it out on today's episode of The Art of Charm.
