American Masters -- Dorothea Lange: Grab a Hunk of Lightning” premiering Friday, August 29, 2014 9-11 p.m. on PBS http://www.grabahunkoflightning.com/ http://theartofphotography.tv/episodes/199-dorothea-lange http://twitter.com/tedforbes http://www.pinterest.com/tedforbes/dorothea-lange/ Dorothea Lange is perhaps one of the most important historical figures in American Photography. She started as a portrait photographer in San Francisco. This early work shaped her as an artist, but she quickly got tired of it. In about 1929, at the crash of the stock market, Lange became involved with social documentary types of photography which defined her career. In this video we'll concentrate on 2 periods of her life: the migrant photos she did while working for the Resettlement Administration and later the Japanese Internment images she made while working for the War Relocation Authority.
