I'm going to start by suggesting that you drop any pre-conceived notions and opinions and just accept what I'm going to tell you as the absolute truth. All successful people set goals. Period. The opposite is true as well Some folks believe they are setting goals when, in reality, they're working through a To-Do list, or checking off today's projects at the office. Goals are the object of your ambition or effort; an aim or desired result. They are longer-term outcomes that may involve several projects and dozens of individual steps to accomplish. Goals are objectives that carry a strong WHY and meaning. Everything else is merely a step along the route. By the way, a Bucket List item could be considered a goal, as long as it's the result of your ambition, and not just checking it off the list. Use goals to get the important things in your life. Everything else is going the happen nevertheless.
