We begin our recording from a table at Winstead’s, the beloved Kansas City diner that’s our family’s favorite place to eat. Plus we feature some special guests. Elizabeth and I had so much fun recording this — it’s always extra-fun when we’re together, and it was great to be in our hometown. I quote from Mircea Eliade’s The Sacred and the Profane: the Nature of Religion: “There are, for example, privileged places, qualitatively different from all others — a man’s birthplace, or the scenes of his first love, or certain places in the first foreign city he visited in youth.
